The Symposium HepaMeta on the theme “Hepatic and cardiometabolic risk factors in a group of people living in Roma settlements" took place at the Faculty of Medicine UPJŠ in Košice on June 05, 2014. There were presented results of study of the HepaMeta Study Group. The professional event was also attended by the newly elected President of the Slovak Republic Andrej Kiska, who in his speech declared an interest to attend Roma settlements during performance of his function.
The Symposium HepaMeta was opened by Rector of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice prof. MUDr. Ladislav Mirossay, DrSc., who welcomed Andrej Kiska on university land and expressed belief that he will visit UPJŠ as the Head of state again in future. After lectures he thanked future President for his interest in the issue of health status of Roma population, and also he praised the work of all HepaMeta authors of the study, whose results were presented there.
From the Management of UPJŠ MF were also present the Vice-dean for scientific research Prof. MUDr. Viliam Donič, CSc. and the Vice-dean for pedagogical activities Doc. MUDr. Jozef Gonsorčík, CSc. in representation of the Dean of UPJŠ MF Dr.h.c. prof. MUDr. Leonard Siegfried, CSc., who could not attend the event due to realized foreign business trip.
