The President of the Slovak Republic Andrej Kiska granted the highest state honors to ten Slovak personalities at the occasion the anniversary of the independent Slovak Republic on Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Among the awarded was a psychiatrist prof. MUDr. Jozef Kafka, DrSc., the Head of the 1st Department of Psychiatry of UPJŠ MF in Košice. He was awarded a state award ‘2nd Class Ľudovít Štúr Order’ for contributions to the development of science, higher education, and social health.
"It was a great honor to meet the President. I very appreciate the prize. It is not only an appreciation of myself, but also the whole Faculty of Medicine of UPJŠ in Košice and the 1st Department of Psychiatry where I spent my professional life,"said Prof. MUDr. Jozef Kafka, DrSc. He also agreed with the President Andrej Kiska who said that it is necessary to rely on older who have many experiences and knowledge for their followers.
