Pavol Jozef Šafárik University continues its successful cooperation with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Slovakia. Together they organized the Cleveringa Lecture 2019 on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 10 AM in the Historical Hall of UPJŠ in Košice on the topic of “EU cooperation: seeking greater internal stability and external authority”. The main guest and speaker was Professor of European Law at Erasmus University Rotterdam and former director of the Dutch Institute Clingendael Jaap de Zwaan. The lecture was followed by a panel discussion with the judges of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic Ladislav Duditš and Martin Vernársky.

The Clevering Lecture project is organized repeatedly and aims to commemorate and honor the memory of Professor of Law Rudolph Clevering, who in November 1940 publicly opposed the expulsion of his Jewish colleagues at the University of Leiden and opposed the German occupation.
