29 individuals and collectives from the fields of science, research, health, media, arts, and culture were awarded in the Historical Town Hall on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. Among the awarded this year were several prominent figures of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. The Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice received the award of the Mayor of Košice for the outstanding merits in the development of Slovak higher education and for its significant contribution to scientific activities and the development of the IT sector in Košice. The Rector of the university prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc. received the award of the City of Košice on the occasion of his life jubilee and for his significant contribution to the development of an excellent infrastructure for the scientific workplaces in Košice.
The award of the city of Košice was also granted to the Head of the Department of Neurology of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ prof. MUDr. Zuzana Gdovinová, CSc., FESO, FEAN on the occasion of her life jubilee and for her significant contribution to medicine in the field of neurology and to JUDr. Jozef Čorba, PhD., in memoriam for his extraordinary merits in the field of sports law and his voluntary activities in the field of administration and management of sports.
The award of the mayor of Košice was also granted to the director of the Institute of Physics of the Faculty of Science, UPJŠ Dr. h. c. prof. RNDr. Alexander Feher, DrSc. on the occasion of his life jubilee and for his significant scientific results in the study of physical properties of substances under extreme conditions and to the dean of the Faculty of Science prof. RNDr. Gabriel Semanišin, PhD. on the occasion of his life jubilee and for his extraordinary merits in scientific and community services in Košice.
