Košice 12th April 2018 – It was the first time that the job fair Students – Enterprises – Universities took place in Košice (all of the previous six job fairs took place in Bratislava). The Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice (UPJŠ) and the Technical University in Košice (TUKE) assisted the Slovak-French University Institute (SFUI), the French Institute in Slovakia, and the French-Slovak Chamber of Commerce in organising the job fair this year. In his speech, prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc., the Rector of the UPJŠ, expressed his belief that the event would help the Slovak partners to gain experience in implementation of the profession-oriented study programmes in dual education. “I believe that the presence of numerous French enterprises and experts in education guarantees it” stated the Rector. The representatives of several French enterprises operating in Slovakia, such as Mazars, Altran, Lafarge Holcim, Bel, ISK-Colas, Kone, Lear Seating Corporation, Decathlon, Novares Slovakia Automotive, Schneider Electric etc., came to Košice to present their businesses.

More than three hundred visitors were interested in the offers of the above mentioned enterprises as potential French employers in the premises of the TUKE University Library. In addition to the interesting workshops a round table was held on the topic of profession-oriented study programmes at the universities. On the bases of concrete examples from France presented by French experts it was possible to compare how the programmes prepare the students for future occupation and how the programmes prepare the students to respond to the needs of enterprises in France and in Slovakia. The Dean of the Faculty of Arts of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, prof. PhDr. Oľga Orosová, CSc. also participated in the discussion on this topic actively. The Ambassador of the French Republic in Slovakia, His Excellency Christophe Léonzi, thanked the organisers for preparing the event and with this regard he also thanked PhDr. Mária Paľová, PhD. from the Faculty of Arts of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University for her activities within SFUI, where she represents our university as a member of the Slovak-French University Institute management.
