The first meeting for the Erasmus+ incoming students from our partner universities took place in the meeting room of the Rectorate building at the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice on the first day of the new academic year 2017/2018, on September 18, 2017, at 8.00 am.  The meeting was attended by 51 of the 57 registered students from various European countries, whose mobility will be realised during the winter semester or throughout the whole current academic year. The most numerous groups are represented by students from the partner universities of Italy and Spain, while Portugal, Germany, Poland, Turkey, France, Lithuania or Greece are also present this year.

After an initial welcome of the students and the handover of the welcome packs, the representatives of the Language Training Center from the Faculty of Arts of the PJŠ University in Košice informed the students about the content of the offered courses of Slovak language for Erasmus students.

After providing practical information about the students’ Erasmus+ Mobility and about their administrative duties, the representatives of the student organization Erasmus Student Network (ESN) Košice took over the meeting and introduced their members, presented their activities and informed the students about their rich cultural program for this academic year. Then they agreed to accompany the foreign Erasmus students to the individual faculties to their first meetings with the faculty (institutional, departmental) Erasmus coordinators and to provide assistance in the handling of administrative matters.

The Faculty of Medicine traditionally showed the highest number of foreign students admitted. At the Faculty of Arts of the PJŠ University in Košice the foreign Erasmus students showed the highest interest about the Erasmus+ program at the Department of British and American Studies, while the Department of Psychology and the Department of Social Work also accepted students this year.

At the Faculty of Science of the PJŠ University in Košice the foreign students were interested in studying at the Institute of Chemistry, Institute of Physics, Institute of Biology and at the Institute of Geography.

The Faculty of Law of the PJŠ University in Košice welcomes students from Spain and Turkey, the Faculty of Public Administration from Greece, and the Institute of Physical Education and Sport from Poland.

We wish all the Erasmus+ incoming students a pleasant stay and a lot of success in their studies at the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice.
