Personalities of the Slovak Science

On November 8, 2012 the eminent personalities of the Slovak science received their awards from the hands of the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport, Dušan Čaplovič, at Incheba in Bratislava. Among them there were also the representatives of UPJŠ in Košice, particularly, in the category of “The Personality of Science and Technology” the prize was awarded to MVDr. Ján Rosocha, CSc. and in the category of “The Personality of Science and Technology up to 35” the prize was awarded to MUDr. Pavol Joppa, PhD. The gala ceremony was held on the occasion of the Week of Science and Technology.

The associated tissue bank of the University Hospital of L. Pasteur and of the Faculty of Medicine, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, in his research pointed to the previously unimaginable capabilities of cell therapy for many socially significant diseases and he has built the most advanced work for the preparation of tissue and cell transplants in Slovakia.

A university teacher – lecturer, Department of Pneumology and Phtizeology, Faculty of Medicine, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice and the University Hospital of  L. Pasteur, for published results and for a significant proportion of the research projects dealing with the systemic manifestations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
