On the 24th of October 2011 the Concert Hall of the House of Arts in Košice hosted the inauguration of the Rector of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. Prof. RNDr. Juraj Černák, CSc. welcomed the academic community of the University and the important representatives of ecclesiastical sphere, and representatives of public and private sectors who came to pay tribute to professor MUDr. Ladislav Mirossay, DrSc., the Rector of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University who had been re-elected to the second term of the office.
The Chairman of the Academic Senate of P. J. Šafárik University in Košice, doc. JUDr. Imrich Kanárik, CSc., read to the auditorium some facts from the curriculum vitae of professor MUDr. Ladislav Mirossay, DrSc., and after the ceremonial SPONDEO AC POLLICEOR the Rector was presented with the university insignia – rector’s chain and the sceptre.
In his address professor Mirossay contemplated about the quality of higher education and the responsibility for managing the educational process. He expressed his wish for only the most capable and responsible people being the leaders of human society – the leaders, who could see from the top to the very bottom of the pyramid they control and they are responsible for.
The ceremonial assembly was addressed by Jaroslav Ivančo, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, by JUDr. Zdenko Trebuľa, the Chairman of Košice Autonomous Region, and by Richard Raši, the Mayor of Košice. Their speeches contributed to the festive atmosphere of the ceremony. The Rector of the Technical University in Košice, Dr. h. c. prof. Ing. Anton Čižmár, CSc. addressed the present on behalf of the Slovak Rectors’ Conference.
His Magnificence, professor Mirossay, also presented with the insignia the newly appointed vice–rectors:

The festive atmosphere was amplified by the Musica Iuvenalis string orchestra performance with the Košice State Theatre soloist Lucia Knoteková and conducted by Igor Dohovič.
