The Ambassador of Slovenia and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts of UPJŠ discussed cooperation with Slovenian universities

On 18 October 2021, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, prof. PhDr. Oľga Orosová, CSc., and the Vice-Dean for International Relations, doc. Mgr. Renáta Panocová, PhD., received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia, J. E. Gregor Kozovinc.
Within the official visit to Eastern Slovakia, the Ambassador visited institutions in Košice and Prešov. The Ambassador and the Dean and the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Arts of UPJŠ in Košice discussed the possibilities of expanding the cooperation with Slovenian universities. The Faculty of Arts of UPJŠ in Košice cooperates with the Department of Slavistics of Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, and would embrace the active cooperation at scientific and pedagogical level with universities in other Slovenian cities, for example in Maribor, Nova Gorica or Koper. The Ambassador promised to engage in arranging and establishing new contacts with Slovenian universities and was also interested in the research experimental unit LICOLAB (Language, Information, and Communication Laboratory), which operates at the Faculty of Arts of UPJŠ in Košice and cooperates with prestigious academic institutions in Strasbourg, Bern, Krakow, Zagreb, Prague and Bratislava. The laboratory focuses on acoustic phonetics. Methodically, it focuses on the analysis and resynthesis of the speech signal, and in addition to standard algorithms, it also applies its own procedures.
Gregor Kozovinc has been the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia in Slovakia since September 2017. As a graduate of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana (1996, Political Science – International Relations), he worked at embassies in Canada and Australia and completed short diplomatic internships at the embassies of the Republic of Slovenia in Greece, the USA, and Turkey.
