The Dean of the Medical Faculty, UPJŠ greeted professors Tomas Ganz and Peter Ganz from USA

Professors of medicine Tomas Ganz and Peter Ganz from the USA, the sons of Professor William Ganz- the inventor of the Swan-Ganz catheter invented in Slovakia, lectured  at the Medical Faculty on Monday, April 18, 2016. Their lectures were presented at the scientific meeting of the Association of Medical Practitioners in Kosice. The main topic of the pulmonologist Tomas Ganz was the regulation of iron metabolism and the cardiologist Peter Ganz focused on Proteomics of cardiovascular diseases and aging. These prominent guests were greeted by Dean of Medical Faculty, UPJŠ - prof. MUDr. Daniel Pella, PhD. before their official program.


Who was prof. MUDr. William Ganz, PhD., F.A.C.C.
(* January 7, 1919 Kosice † November 10, 2009, Los Angeles, USA)
World - renowned expert in cardiology, a native from Kosice who graduated from high school Kováčska 28 and who together with prof. J. Swan, MD invented a catheter for diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease - so-called Swan-Ganz catheter.
