The 8th International Student Medical Congress in Kosice was successful

      The International Student Medical Congress in Kosice was held at the Medical Faculty of Pavol Jozef Safarik University in Kosice on June 22-24, 2016. It is the only one of its kind in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The organizers were the students of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJS with the support of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ. The patronage of the event took the Slovak President Andrej Kiska and Rector of UPJS prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc.
    "The event was attended by 130 medical students and postgraduate students from 28 countries around the world, including Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, USA, India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Indonesia, Jordan and Iran. Ukraine, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic had the largest number of representatives," says a recent graduate of Medical Faculty, UPJS - Mária Gazdačková.
     International Student Medical Congress in Kosice  is mainly a great opportunity for the participants to present their research results. The experts of scientific committee selected 184 works of the original 313 submissions, which have been published in the journal Folia Medica. The  essays were divided into 4 main sections, and presentation of them was under a strict monitoring by judges - teachers of the Faculty of Medicine, UPJS.
     As stated by the Dean of the Faculty of  Medicine, UPJS prof. MUDr. Daniel Pella, PhD., the Congress was organized by the students Faculty of Medicine, UPJŠ  for the eighth time in Kosice and it has attracted more than a hundred students, graduates and doctoral students from different countries of the world who, thanks to this event, become acquainted with the Faculty of Medicine and beautiful eastern Slovakia. "I am proud of their activity, they gain a great experience in organizing professional events, while they are helping to present our faculty and the entire region of Eastern Slovakia in abroad," said prof. MUDr. Daniel Pella, PhD.
