Graduate`s profile


The Faculty of Medicine trains physicians and surgeons with broader general medical education, capable of providing professional medical aid and care aimed at preventive aspects of medicine. Vocational training is based on the latest knowledge in medical science and students are given the possibility to achieve the background for scientific activity as well.

Foreign language study and moral ethical aspects in the education of personality are presented in the spirit of the Hippocratic oath and are included in the study.

Students acquire specialized knowledge in theoretical, pre-clinical and clinical subjects through lectures, seminars clerkships, specialized practice and consultations.

The Faculty of Medicine has several significant partners – the Faculty Hospital of L. Pasteur in Košice and six other medical facilities, where the faculty provides students with practice.

As regards organisation, the faculty is divided into 57 institutes and clinics, which provide the activity of the faculty professionally.

 

GRADUATE OF GENERAL MEDICINE PROFILE

The graduate of General Medicine has adequate theoretical knowledge of both theoretical, pre-clinical subjects, and clinical disciplines. In their practical training they will learn basic preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures. In their post-graduate education they become specialist in primary care and may attain qualifications to work as a physician in any medical specialism.  The study of General Medicine lasts for 6 years and its graduates are awarded the degree of "Doctor of General Medicine" (MUDr.), which automatically entitles them to work not merely in any country of the European  Union, but almost all the world.

GRADUATE OF DENTAL MEDICINE PROFILE

The graduate of Dental medicine has adequate theoretical knowledge of theoretical, pre-clinical, and clinical disciplines of Dental medicine. During practical exercises in the subjects of Dental medicine, they will learn basic preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures and will become qualified to independently perform basic practical procedures. The study of Dental medicine lasts for 6 years and its graduates are awarded the degree of "Doctor of Dental Medicine" (MDDr.), which is also recognized in any country of the European Union and in the majority of other countries.
