\tThe introduction and the opening ceremony of the European project Fostering Excellence in Multiscale Cell Imaging (CELIM) was held on Wednesday the 5th June 2013, at the Institute of Physical Sciences, Faculty of Science, Pavol Jozef \u0160af\u00e1rik University in Ko\u0161ice, in the presence of:\u00a0 UPJ\u0160 Rector – prof. MUDr. Ladislav Mirossay, DrSc., Dean – PF doc. RNDr. Gabriel Semani\u0161in, PhD. and several other members of the University and the Faculty leadership. The coordinator of the project, financed by the 7th Framework program in the amount of 2.700.000 Euro, is Pavol Jozef \u0160af\u00e1rik University in Ko\u0161ice. The project is significant not only for the amount of the financial contribution, but also for the fact, that it is\u00a0 coordinated in Slovakia, where the additional 6 scientific institutions from five European countries – Germany, Sweden, France, Switzerland and Spain participate in it. Interdisciplinary research is heading to the elucidation of the physical-chemical processes determining normal and \/ or pathological functioning of cells with the subsequent use of new findings in the field of humane medicine and
