The academic community of the University of Pavol Jozef \u0160af\u00e1rik in Ko\u0161ice (UPJ\u0160), the highest officials of Slovak universities and other invited guests gathered on the occasion of the important ceremony on 24 October 2023 at 11.00 a.m. in the House of Arts in Ko\u0161ice to hear the rector’s oath of Prof. Daniel Pella, who was sworn in as Rector of the University of Pavol Jozef \u0160af\u00e1rik in Ko\u0161ice.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I promise to perform the duties of the Rector of the University of Pavol Jozef \u0160af\u00e1rik in Ko\u0161ice to the best of my knowledge and belief and to do all in my power for the benefit of our University in the spirit of the universal principles of ethics, humanism and democracy,<\/em>” recited Rector Pella in his oath during the inauguration act in the presence of the Chairman of the Ko\u0161ice Self-Governing Region, Ing. Rastislav Trnka, Deputy Mayor of Ko\u0161ice, Mgr. Lucia Gurb\u00e1\u013eov\u00e1, former rectors of UPJ\u0160, prof. Ing. Slavko Chalupka, CSc. (1984 – 1990), prof. h. c. prof. JUDr. Vladim\u00edr Bab\u010d\u00e1k, CSc. (2003 – 2007), prof. MUDr. Ladislav Mirossay, DrSc. (2007 – 2015), prof. RNDr. Pavel Sov\u00e1k, CSc. (2015 – 2023), the Chairman of the UPJ\u0160 Board of Trustees, JUDr. Tom\u00e1\u0161 Ille\u0161, and other members of the UPJ\u0160 Board of Trustees, directors of Ko\u0161ice medical institutions, members of the scientific council of the University and of the faculties; members of the academic senate of the University and of the faculties; directors of UPJ\u0160 departments, university employees, teachers, students and other distinguished guests. Subsequently, the President of the Academic Senate of UPJ\u0160 in Ko\u0161ice, prof. MUDr. Jana Kat’uchov\u00e1, PhD., MBA,  handed over to the Rector the insignia of the University – the Rector’s chain and sceptre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the deliberation in the UPJ\u0160 Academic Senate on 21 September 2023, Rector Pella appointed the members of the UPJ\u0160 management:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
