Mgr. Sl\u00e1vka Toma\u0161\u010d\u00edkov\u00e1, PhD.<\/mark><\/strong> and the Dean of the UPJ\u0160 Faculty of Arts, <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-zakladna-modra-color\">prof. Mgr. Ren\u00e1ta Panocov\u00e1, PhD.<\/mark><\/strong>, received <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-zakladna-modra-color\">Miroslava Petrovsk\u00e1<\/mark><\/strong>, Head of the Slovak Interpretation Department at the European Parliament. They discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the field of internships for students of the University, as well as the employment of UPJ\u0160 graduates in European Union structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201e<em>Regular contact and cooperation with Slovak departments in the European Union institutions is an important contribution to improving the quality of studies in translation and interpreting programmes implemented at our University,&#8221; <\/em>said Vice-Rector Toma\u0161\u010d\u00edkov\u00e1 immediately after the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n<style>.kb-image74099_c67f9d-af .kb-image-has-overlay:after{opacity:0.3;}<\/style>\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-image kb-image74099_c67f9d-af\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/www.upjs.sk\/app\/uploads\/2024\/04\/tlmoc-oddelenie-EU-parlament-040424c.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"kb-img wp-image-74007\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.upjs.sk\/app\/uploads\/2024\/04\/tlmoc-oddelenie-EU-parlament-040424c.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.upjs.sk\/app\/uploads\/2024\/04\/tlmoc-oddelenie-EU-parlament-040424c-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.upjs.sk\/app\/uploads\/2024\/04\/tlmoc-oddelenie-EU-parlament-040424c-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the meeting with the representatives of the university and the faculty, Mrs. Petrovsk\u00e1 delivered a lecture to the students of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upjs.sk\/filozoficka-fakulta\/pracoviska\/katedra-anglistiky-a-amerikanistiky\/\">the Department of English and American Studies at the UPJ\u0160 Faculty of Arts<\/a> on the work of interpreters in the European Parliament, the important skills for this profession, and also gave some tips and advice for students of interpreting on how to become an interpreter in the European institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201eFor our future graduates of the translation and interpreting programmes, it is important to have contact with experts with many years of experience working as interpreters and translators in the European Union institutions.<\/em> <em>The opportunity to meet them in person and ask them questions is an exceptional and irreplaceable experience, which can be a decisive moment in the future work of our graduates,&#8221;<\/em> said Dean Panocov\u00e1, evaluating the benefits of the visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The European Parliament currently interprets from and into 24 languages, making it the only institution in the world with such a wide linguistic coverage. These 24 languages create a total of 552 possible language combinations. Miroslava Petrovsk\u00e1 interprets from French, Spanish, Portuguese and Czech into Slovak.
