An international scientific conference dedicated to Holocaust research was held on 11-12 June 2024<\/strong> at the Historical Auditorium of the UPJ\u0160 in Ko\u0161ice. The event entitled “The Unforgotten – Exploring the Holocaust from the individual perspective”<\/mark><\/strong> featured interesting lectures on the topical and still sensitive topic of the Holocaust, with presentations by leading experts from Slovakia, Israel, South Africa, the USA and Hungary. The conference was opened with a speech by the Vice-Rector for Internationalization, assoc. professor Silvia Ru\u010dinsk\u00e1, PhD., and the expert part was opened by a lecture of professor Hanna Yablonka from Ben Gurion University. In it she presented the life story of her parents from Ko\u0161ice, who were directly affected by the Holocaust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The main idea of the conference was to discuss modern trends in Holocaust research, with special emphasis on the perception of events through the eyes of an individual. Such an approach makes it possible to capture specific details, important both for a better understanding of the Holocaust and for preventing its denial. The event was organized by professor Martin Pek\u00e1r, PhD., from the Department of History, UPJ\u0160 Faculty of Arts, and Dr. Tamir Hod, Ph.D., from Tel-Hai College in Israel as a benefit of the signing of a memorandum between the Pavol Jozef \u0160af\u00e1rik University in Ko\u0161ice and the Israeli Tel-Hai College.
