On Thursday, 26 June, the Rector’s annual awards were conferred on students who have successfully represented Pavol Jozef \u0160af\u00e1rik University in Ko\u0161ice on various occasions at home and abroad, and have contributed to spreading its good name. <\/strong>A total of thirty students from various study programmes were recognised for their outstanding academic achievements, scientific results, exceptional publication activity in renowned professional journals, and significant sporting achievements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The annual award ceremony took place in the Large Meeting Room of the University’s Rector’s Office in the presence of the Rector, prof. MUDr. Daniel Pella, PhD.; Vice-Rector for Undergraduate and Lifelong Learning, JUDr. \u013dudmila Elbert, PhD.; and Vice-Rector for International Relations, Dr. h. c. prof. Mgr. Mgr. Sl\u00e1vka Toma\u0161\u010d\u00edkov\u00e1, PhD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official part was followed by an informal discussion between students and members of the university management, who were interested in various insights regarding teaching and extracurricular activities at UPJ\u0160. Rector Daniel Pella emphasized that the voice of students carries weight today, unlike in the past when this was not always the case. He noted that students now hold significant decision-making powers as members of academic senates, and other students are also encouraged to propose changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, students expressed that they perceived more open communication between the university management and students, as well as a clear effort to support them on various levels. They also appreciated the material support for student activities through their societies, focusing not only on sports but also on the organization of festivals and other events. They confirmed a shift in the status of students within the teaching process and noted greater acceptance by teachers. At the same time, they put forward proposals that will be addressed by the UPJ\u0160 management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
