UPJ\u0160 in Ko\u0161ice had something to show off once again at the SlovakiaTech Forum-Expo 2025 event, presenting its innovations and visions for the future and was a part of dozens of exhibition stands from various fields of science and more than 120 speakers. The event took place on September 17 and 18, 2025, in Kulturpark, Ko\u0161ice. The opening ceremony was attended by Prof. RNDr. Ren\u00e1ta Ori\u0148akov\u00e1, DrSc., Vice-Rector for Science, Research and Project Agenda at UPJ\u0160, who took an active interest in all the topics presented by our university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Faculty of Science of UPJ\u0160 in Ko\u0161ice presented three areas of research at the event:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1.\u2002New batteries for mobility and energy \u2013 from prototypes to technologies for electric cars.
2.\u2002Smart geographic solutions for climate change adaptation \u2013 flood modeling, urban heat island analysis, and the concept of a climate-neutral municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CAP \u2013 a data analytics platform developed collaborating with VISSIM, focused on applied research and support for education in the field of artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The topics presented at the event by researchers and doctoral students from the Faculty of Science of UPJ\u0160 in Ko\u0161ice attracted great interest from visitors. Doc. Mgr. Michal Gallay, PhD, Vice-Dean for external relations of the Faculty of Natural Science of UPJ\u0160, came to support his exhibiting teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The SlovakiaTech 2025 conference was also attended by RNDr. Andrej Mirossay, PhD., director of the UPJ\u0160 Technology and Innovation Park (TIP-UPJ\u0160), prof. RNDr. Erik Sedl\u00e1k, DrSc., head of the Center for Interdisciplinary Biosciences (CIB), researcher Mgr. M\u00e1ria Tomkov\u00e1, PhD., Mgr. Du\u0161an Rost\u00e1\u0161, PhD., head of the Technology Transfer Center, researcher doc. RNDr. Michal Goga, Mgr. Diana Juh\u00e1szov\u00e1, specialist in intellectual property management and administration, and RNDr. Deepti Routray, PhD., from the Faculty of Science at UPJ\u0160 in Ko\u0161ice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The main point of the TIP-UPJ\u0160 presentation was the APBC \u2013 Advanced Protein Biotechnology Consortium project, which brings together partners from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom and is led by Prof. RNDr. Erik Sedl\u00e1k, DrSc. The aim of the project is to support the creation of spin-off companies, attract talent, and build new research capacities, including the Center for Mass Photometry in Ko\u0161ice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another project was also presented: a two-month research expedition to Antarctica led by doc. RNDr. Michal Goga, PhD., who, in addition to his research on mosses and lichens, will test our partners’ products \u2013 functional superfoods from RISTRE\u00ae, functional clothing and sleeping bags from CARINTHIA for temperatures down to -30\u00b0C, a Pavian Car mobile siren with an acoustic range of 500 meters, and a safety beacon from Telegrafia \u2013 Warning Systems!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
