{"id":21739,"date":"2021-06-24T10:10:46","date_gmt":"2021-06-24T10:10:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.upjs.sk\/filozoficka-fakulta\/actuality\/virtualny-spiker-velvyslanectva-okt2020\/"},"modified":"2021-06-24T10:10:46","modified_gmt":"2021-06-24T10:10:46","slug":"virtualny-spiker-velvyslanectva-okt2020","status":"publish","type":"cpt_aktuality","link":"https:\/\/www.upjs.sk\/filozoficka-fakulta\/en\/actuality\/virtualny-spiker-velvyslanectva-okt2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Virtual Embassy Speaker \u2013 a new scheme in the cooperation of the Embassy of the USA and the BAS FF UPJ\u0160"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align:justify\">American Values \u2013 What is it to be an American? \u2013 was the topic of the first session within the new Virtual Embassy Speaker scheme organized for its students by the <span style=\"color:#ffa500\"><strong>Department of British and American Studies FF UPJ\u0160<\/strong><\/span> in cooperation with the <strong>Embassy of the USA in Bratislava<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe first online discussion session took place on 27 October 2020 and besides the students enrolled in the Contemporary USA course it was open for everybody at the Department. 25 students and staff had the opportunity to participate in the event with two guest speakers, <strong>Dr. Jonathan Herzog<\/strong>, Senior Political Officer of the US Embassy, and Ms <strong>Elena Raab Bianchi<\/strong>, Public Engagement Specialist of the US Embassy who in their one and a half hour long presentation and discussion session analysed with the students American lifestyle and American values.<br \/>\nThe event was a wonderful chance to understand the American way of thinking, its roots and cultural background. Besides contemporary issues the students also learned about the possibilities the Embassy of the USA in Bratislava offers for undergraduates to enhance their studying and first-hand American experience gained via travelling and working in the USA.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><strong>Mgr.
