Admissions system:
- Children are admitted to the Nursery School of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice (the “UPJŠ nursery school”) on the basis of a written request from the child’s parent/guardian and a certificate of the child’s medical fitness from a general practitioner for children and adolescents with confirmation of the completion of mandatory vaccinations.
- If a child has a health disadvantage, it is also necessary to submit a certificate of medical fitness, a report from a diagnostic assessment issued by a counselling and prevention facility, and a recommendation from a paediatrician.
- Children for whom pre-primary education is compulsory, i.e. those who by 31 August 2026 will have reached 5 years of age, and also children with continuing compulsory pre-primary education, based on the written agreement of the relevant educational counselling and prevention facility, the written agreement of the general practitioner for children and adolescents and with the informed consent of the legal guardian, will be admitted as a priority.
- Children who have the right to be admitted to pre-primary education, i.e. who will be 4 years old by 31 August 2026, will be admitted in the order of receipt of applications.
Conditions for admission of a child to pre-primary education:
- Children of UPJŠ employees and students are admitted as a priority
- Children who already have a sibling in our nursery school are preferred
- Other children depending on the age and capacity of the nursery school
- Children who have adopted hygiene habits (without diapers) are accepted
- Exceptionally, a child can be admitted to the UPJŠ nursery school after reaching the age of two, if suitable material, personnel and other necessary conditions are present, including the capacity of the school
- A child under the age of two cannot be admitted to the nursery school, even for adaptation or diagnostics
- UPJŠ nursery school operates a full-day schedule
A parent / guardian of a child who is already attending the nursery school is not required to submit an application for admission to nursery school; the child continues in pre-primary education without a need for new application.
