The Centre for Integrative Paleobiology of the Technology and innovation Park of P. J. Šafárik University in Košice invites admirers of our planet’s prehistoric life to the first exhibition of the Prehistoric Silk Road project, which will take place in the Botanical Garden of P. J. Šafárik University from 12 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The exhibition is being held on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the birth of the founder of Czechoslovak paleoart, Zdeněk Burian.
Master Burian brought the mysterious and unknown prehistoric era to life in an unforgettable artistic way and awakened our own imagination about the world that existed millions of years ago. This exhibition includes an invitation to the second exhibition of the Prehistoric Silk Road project, which will be held in 2026.
We have opened a window into the story being written by scientists from Košice in Central Asia, where they are studying life, the environment, and the climate during the last major global warming of our planet. We look forward to your visit!
The exhibition is supported by the Slovak Research and Development Agency (APVV), the Scientific Grant Agency of The Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic and the Slovak Academy of Sciences (VEGA), the Zdeněk Burian Museum in Štramberk (Czech Republic) and the artist Peter Modlitba (Czech Republic), an expert on the work of Master Burian.
