In cooperation with the regional tourism organization Košice Region Tourism, we invite you to the opening of the monumental land art installation Metamorphosis by artist Štefan Polák.
This unique work is the latest addition to the Slovak Land Art Gallery project, which connects selected locations in the Košice Region through art in nature. The work Metamorphosis introduces a fascinating object into our garden, shaped like butterfly wings and composed of hundreds of wooden “pixels” whose colours shift depending on the angle of the incoming light. The opening will be accompanied by a special lighting display of the artwork as part of the evening event ‘Night at the Botanic Garden’.
This work will complement the existing Slovak Land Art Gallery, which currently comprises eight unique installations located throughout the Košice Region.

As a bonus, the interiors of the three exhibition greenhouses will be illuminated for visitors, who will be able to take a private tour of the tropical jungle.
RECOMMENDATION!
The artwork is situated in a meadow above the forest park. An 800-metre-long, uphill tarmac road leads to it. The area around the artwork is open countryside. We therefore ask visitors to wear suitable footwear and clothing, and to be prepared for a 1,600-metre walk (there and back) across open countryside. The outdoor area of the botanical garden and the forest park is not illuminated, however, the path leading to the installation will be lit specifically for this event. For this reason, we advise staying strictly on this designated path.
