We invite you to the exhibition BOTANICAL MYSTERY, which will run from 19 July to 15 September 2025 from 9 am to 5:00 pm.
The Botanical Mystery exhibition explores new forms of display and curation. It works with the collections of the East Slovak Gallery and the Botanical Garden of P. j. Šafárik University in Košice. It is based on the study of the unique mutual exchange of selected collection objects of these institutions. Works of art are presented in the greenhouse, and plants are presented in the East Slovak Gallery on Alžbetina Street as part of the “Jungle” exhibition. The basis of both exhibitions is not only the exchange of collections, but also the realization of the common priorities of both institutions – systematic collecting, professional preservation, scientific research, precise sorting, quality education and an impressive experience for the viewer.
The Botanical Garden of P. J. Šafárik University in Košice has already started experimenting with artworks installed in its premises in the last three years. By collaborating with the East Slovak Gallery, the most renowned art institution in Košice, it confirms that this is not just a short-term experiment, but a long-term vision and cooperation with artists and art institutions. The experiment is based on the offer of cooperation from the Botanical Garden of P. J. Šafárik University and shows the similarities between these two institutions in their focus on the preservation and protection of national heritage – cultural and natural.
