Professional profile:
Jarosław Herbert is a researcher specializing in physical activity, healthy lifestyles, and the objective measurement of movement (accelerometry), with a particular focus on children and adolescents. His scientific output includes over 100 publications in journals such as Sports Medicine – Open, Journal of Sleep Research, BMJ Open, and International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. He is a member of HEPA Europe and the International Society for Physical Activity and Health, and serves as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Scientific Review of Physical Culture. He was a Subject Editor for The European Journal of Clinical and Experimental Medicine (2017–2020) and a Guest Editor for Healthcare journal (2025–2026). He was the only representative from Poland in an international expert panel developing global indicators for 24-hour movement behaviours in early childhood (Sports Medicine –Open, Q1), involving researchers from nearly 40 countries. He co-authored strategic reports for the city of Rzeszów and participated in Erasmus+ (PROPELLERS project) and research on standing desks in schools across Poland, Slovakia, Spain, and Ukraine. He was awarded the Medal of the National Education Commission (2022) for outstanding contributions to education. He currently serves as regional coordinator of WF with AWF – Active Today for Health Tomorrow, responsible for physical fitness diagnosis in preschool children.
