Head of the Center for Integrative Paleobiology (INPAL) of the Technology and Innovation Park and university professor Assoc. Prof. RNDr. Martin Kundrát, PhD. appeared as a guest in the daily magazine on TV channel Dvojka STVR and Radio Regina, where he introduced the exhibition Prehistoric Silk Road, representing a unique connection between science, art and paleontology.
The exhibition, which took place in the Botanical Garden from December 12, 2025 to January 18, 2026, was dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of Zdeněk Burian, the founder of Czechoslovak paleoart. His iconic works, through a unique artistic language, bring to life the fascinating world of prehistory and significantly shape our ideas about the form of life on Earth millions of years ago.
The Prehistoric Silk Road project brings the development of life on Earth closer to the public by connecting the latest scientific knowledge with fine arts. The exhibition also offered an invitation to the second stage of the project, which will take place in 2026 and will smoothly follow on from the successful first part.
The realization of the exhibition was made possible by the support of:
• Agency for the Support of Research and Development (APVV)
• Scientific Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of the Slovak Republic and the Slovak Academy of Sciences (VEGA)
• Zdeněk Burian Museum in Štramberk (CZ)
• expert on Zdeněk Burian’s work, artist Petr Modlitba (CZ)
The participation of Professor Martin Kundrát in the national broadcast of STVR is proof of the growing importance of interdisciplinary research and popularization of science, which the Technology and Innovation Park (TIP-UPJŠ) and Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice systematically and long-term support.
