CNIC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tachyum
Cassovia New Industry Cluster (CNIC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Slovak-American company Tachyum s.r.o. on November 5, 2021 at the Technology and Innovation Park TIP-UPJŠ. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on behalf of CNIC by the Chairman of the Board of CNIC, prof. RNDr. Pavol Miškovský, DrSc. and Tachyum s.r.o. co-founder and CEO, Ing. Radoslav Danilak, PhD. The meeting was also attended by Mgr. Roman Oros for CNIC and Róbert Cisár, Business Development Manager for Tachyum.

Success of the CIB project in the field of paleontology in Uzbekistan
Assoc. Prof. Martin Kundrát, PhD. from the Center for Interdisciplinary Biosciences, TIP-UPJŠ managed to implement a project to find the remains of dinosaurs in Uzbekistan in more than two years in the period from September 22 to October 12, 2021 in cooperation with partners from the State Geological Museum in Tashkent. This project was also realized thanks to the support of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Tashkent and in cooperation with partners from the State Geological Museum in Tashkent.

Cassovia New Industry Cluster won the Award for Technology Transfer in Slovakia in 2021
Within the conference COINTT 2021 – Cooperation Innovation Technology Transfer, which took place on October 19-21, 2021 at the Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, awards were presented – Technology Transfer Award in Slovakia 2021. The event was implemented within the national project National infrastructure for technology transfer support in Slovakia – NITT SK II.

Habilitation in the Center for Interdisciplinary Biosciences CIB, TIP-UPJŠ
On september 20, 2021, the habilitation of RNDr. Gabriel Žoldák, PhD. from the Center for Interdisciplinary Biosciences, TIP-UPJŠ took place on the premises of the Rectorate. Dr. Žoldák gave a habilitation lecture entitled Laser Optical Tweezers: from discovery to application and then presented the main results of his habilitation thesis entitled “Study of biophysical properties of proteins using laser optical tweezers”.

Establishment of the Cassovia New Industry Cluster
On August 4, the founding agreements of the Innovation Center of the Košice Region (ICKK) and the Cassovia New Industry Cluster (CNIC) were signed in the mirror hall of the Košice self-governing region, the founders of which are three Košice universities – Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Technical University in Košice and University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice, the City of Košice and the Košice Self-governing region. Besides the academic sector and local government, Cassovia Discovery Park, the Slovak Academy of Sciences, and the L. Pasteur University Hospital also participate in it.

Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice ranked best among the 6 evaluated Slovak universities in the latest international ranking, The Emerging Economies University Rankings 2021. It ranked 201-250 in the ranking, which confirmed the high quality of education and scientific research. Technology and Innovation Park (TIP UPJŠ) also made a significant contribution to this success with its excellent research, international projects, researchers and scientists not only from Slovakia but also from abroad.

The project “Cassovia New Industry Cluster” was officially introduced at a press conference by the Košice Self-governing region
On December 17, 2020, a press conference was held in the East Slovak Gallery in Košice under the auspices of the Košice Self-governing region to establish the Innovation Center of the Košice Region ICKK, which aims to support the development of innovations and new technologies in the East Slovak region.
