The Advanced Protein Biotechnology Consortium (APBC) project is an international collaborative R&D initiative that brings together leading academic partners to address key economic and social challenges in Slovakia – most notably the ongoing brain drains, especially from the region of Eastern Slovakia. Strategically focused on protein biotechnology, the project aims to foster sustainable development by creating conditions for high-value research, intellectual property generation, and long-term attraction of bio-production facilities. Through this cutting-edge field, APBC seeks to stimulate economic growth, generate high-skilled employment, and strengthen Slovakia’s position within the bio-industrial sector. As a model proof-of-principle, the consortium aspires to inspire similar innovation-driven transformations across other industries and regions.
