The Centre for Interdisciplinary Biosciences (TIP-CIB) at UPJŠ once again participated in European Researchers’ Night 2026 at the Optima shopping center in Košice. At its booth, themed “AI Designs, Humans Decide: The Future of Proteins,” the Centre introduced visitors to the world of modern protein engineering.
Both children and adults had the opportunity to see firsthand how biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, and artificial intelligence intersect in protein research and design. They also learned why an AI-generated design is not the final result: its properties and biological significance must be evaluated by scientists and verified through experiments.
The event provided an opportunity to bring scientific topics out of the laboratory and demonstrate how protein research could contribute to future solutions in medicine and biotechnology. Visitors to the booth could participate in activities, ask questions, and engage in discussions directly with CIB researchers.
