If you would like to ask our counsellors a question regarding psychological, career, social or legal counselling, you may use our e-counselling. We also answer questions of students with special needs within e-counseling.

Legal Counselling

If interested in legal advice, you can contact the students' legal portal Students for Students. Our students will answer your questions under the supervision of an experienced lawyer. The portal is provided by the Law Clinics at the Faculty of Law, UPJŠ in Košice.

Psychological counselling

Psychological counselling is focused on academic and personal problems of students. It is specifically concerned with the following learning issues:

  • Difficulty in concentrating when learning - learning optimization, stage fright and others;
  • Coping with the burden and crisis situations;
  • Problems in relationships (in the school group, the family, in a partnership, or in relationship to oneself).

The consultants shall also provide consultation and guidance on a variety of psychological difficulties:

  • Neurotic symptoms;
  • Insomnia;
  • Depression;
  • Problems with food intake;
  • Sexual issues;
  • Problems with the use of psychoactive substances.

Individual psychological counselling in the English language shall be provided by Mgr. Viktor Belák, a specialist at the 2nd Clinic of Psychiatry at the UPJŠ Faculty of Medicine and the Louis Pasteur University Hospital.


Students can take part in an Autogenic training during the semester. It is the most widespread psychotherapeutic training method based on relaxation.

For students who experience learning difficulties, the „Learning How to Learn” workshop is usually held at the beginning of the semester.

Social counselling

Social counselling means essential and specialized social counselling in:

  • Issues in problems in social relations;
  • Deficiencies in social capabilities;
  • Problems in the exercise of social roles (role of a child, partner, employee, citizen, student);
  • problems with the management of social change (loss of family, employment, poor health).

It shall further be involved in the following:

  • Interpersonal conflicts in a variety of relationships with an emphasis on problem solving in relationships, not personality issues;
  • Solution to problems of social adaptation and social problems (unemployment, socio-economic problems, health problems, severe disability);
  • Other problems in the area of socio-pathological phenomena.

Social counselling shall be provided by Assoc. Prof. Mgr. Soňa Lovašová, PhD., a specialist from the Department of Social Work of the Faculty of Arts.
