Attendance at the 21st European Bioenergetics Conference

0minút, 56sekúnd

Thanks to the support of the CasProt project, Daniel Jancura and a PhD student Adriána Tomková from the Department of Biophysics of UPJŠ in Košice were able to actively participate in the 21st European Bioenergetics Conference which was held at Aix-en-Provence, in France, from 20 to 25 August 2022.

The EBEC is a traditional biannual conference to welcome many of the world’s leading scientists in the field of bioenergetics to present and discuss the advances in their work. The focus of the EBEC conferences is to enable lively interaction between scientists, to encourage the participation of young academics and to enhance the quality of research in the multiple perspectives of bioenergetics. The topics include ATP synthase, bacterial and mitochondrial electron transport complexes, photosynthesis, electron transport and proton translocation, membrane transport and membrane transporters, mitochondrial structure and dynamics, reactive oxygen species and ageing, mitochondria and disease, mitochondrial and cell physiology and mitochondrial systems biology.

The posters of Daniel Jancura and Adriána Tomková presented the thermodynamics characterization of the ferryl intermediates of one of the most important proteins essential for the energy transformation in living organisms, cytochrome c oxidase.
