The Center for Integrative Paleobiology TIP-UPJŠ invites you to a special lecture by the world-renowned paleontologist Prof. Michael J. Benton from the University of Bristol entitled “Extinctions: How Life Survives, Adapts, Evolves!”
The lecture will take place on May 20, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Historical Hall of the UPJŠ Rectorate in Košice.
In his lecture, Prof. Benton will focus on mass extinctions throughout Earth’s history, their impact on the evolution of life, and the ability of organisms to adapt to changing environments. He will discuss how major extinction events shaped the planet’s biodiversity, while also highlighting the importance of protecting modern species from the consequences of human activity.
Michael J. Benton is one of the leading experts in paleontology and evolutionary biology, a Fellow of the Royal Society of London, and the author of numerous scientific publications dedicated to the history of life on Earth.
Students, researchers, and the general public interested in paleontology, evolution, and the history of life are warmly invited to attend.
