New laboratories for bioscience research

1minút, 51sekúnd

Rector of P. J. Šafárik University in Košice (UPJŠ), prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc., Dean of Faculty of Science of UPJŠ (PF UPJŠ), doc. RNDr. Roman Soták, PhD. and director of Technology and Innovation Park of UPJŠ (TIP-UPJŠ), prof. RNDr. Pavol Miškovský, DrSc., ceremoniously opened new laboratories of the renovated spaces localized in the PF UPJŠ at Jesenná 5 in Košice. The new laboratories will serve both the employees of the Center for Interdisciplinary Biosciences of the TIP-UPJŠ (CIB) and the Department of Biophysics of the PF UPJŠ (KBF), as well as students at the second and third level of the university studies. Besides, these laboratories are expected to be used to carry out research projects that will contribute to the development of science and technology at the intersection of biological, physical, chemical and computer sciences.

The initiative to expand laboratories gave rise naturally on the grounds of CIB TIP-UPJŠ and KBF PF UPJŠ as a result of the OpenMed and BioPickmol projects financed from the EU structural funds, as well as the CasProt project obtained as part of the H2020 program, whose implementation brought new scientific challenges and made it possible to recruit new experienced as well as young promising scientists.
