Abstract:
The Journal Citation Reports™ 2026 edition provides updated data on journals indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection. The webinar will present the main updates, changes in journal coverage, and updates to key metrics, and will demonstrate how these changes impact journal rankings across various disciplines.
Participants will gain a clearer understanding of how to use JCR for informed decision-making when selecting a journal, evaluating publication strategies, and conducting analytical work. We will focus on the practical interpretation of metrics such as the Journal Impact Factor, Article Influence Score, quartiles, and subject categories, including their proper context.
The webinar will also cover best practices for the responsible use of metrics at the journal level. We will demonstrate when metrics can be useful, what their limitations are, and why it is important to always evaluate a journal within a broader disciplinary and publishing context.
