The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) has announced the establishment of the Periodic Table of Younger Chemists. Each of the chosen elements from the periodic table will be represented by one of 118 exceptional young chemists from around the world, who will be nominated for this award. Assoc. prof. RNDr. Andrea Straková Fedorková, PhD. from the Institute of Chemistry, Department of Physical Chemistry, is included among the successful young chemists, representing the element platinum

At the beginning of August 2018 an expedition took place with a seven membered scientific team, under the supervision of prof. Eric Ferré from the Southern Illinois University, U.S. in the area of Ariège (in the South of France), in the cave of Geuffre Georges, which is situated in the massif of the Mont Bèas mountain (1903 altitude) in the northern Pyrenees. Members of the scientific team were also doc. Mgr. Michal Gallay, PhD. and Mgr. Jozef Šupinský from the Institute of Geography FS P.J.Š. University

Arctic Spitsbergen – professor Bačkor from the Institute of Biology and Ecology FS, P.J.Š. University has become a member of a new international expedition to the polar areas of our planet

Professor Martin Bačkor, a scientist working with the Physiology and Ecology of plants in extreme conditions of the Institute of Biology and Ecology FS, P.J.Š. University, in the year 2017 (January-March) took part for the first time in a unique scientific polar expedition in Antarctica. For this reason, on the 10th of August this year he joined a new expedition which now will take place in Spitsbergen when he will connect his research with the solutions of some of his earlier projects from Antarctica.
