The Faculty of Arts at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice has opened the Future Classroom Lab, a modern space designed primarily for teacher education students. The lab aims to connect theory with practice, develop digital competencies and prepare future teachers for 21st century education. The classroom is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including VR equipment, podcasting tools, mobile and audiovisual devices, multimedia creation software and a large interactive touch screen, as well as flexible furniture. The space is divided into six learning zones: inquiry, collaboration, creation, presentation, self-development and interaction to support various forms of learning, from individual study to team projects.
Representatives of the university and the faculty, as well as teachers and students, attended the ceremonial opening of the Future Classroom Lab at the Faculty of Arts, UPJŠ, and were able to experience the new facilities first-hand. Dean Prof. Renáta Panocová and the Head of the Department of Education Assoc. prof. Renáta Orosová emphasized that the Future Classroom Lab will introduce innovative teaching methods, foster critical thinking, collaboration, and flexibility, and strengthen the faculty’s role in preparing future educators.
The new space will not only serve teaching, but also pedagogical research, becoming a centre of innovation in education.
