The University provides education in three main cycles – bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD. studies in two languages – Slovak and English. You can check out our website for more information about the programmes. We are looking forward to meeting you.

How the selection process works?

📥 Application → 🔍 Faculty review → 💬 Online interview → 📄 Acceptance letter → 🏛️ SAIA evaluation → 🎓 Scholarship award

To be considered for an Acceptance Letter, you must complete the online application form available on the Faculty website.

The application form can only be submitted once, so please make sure all information is accurate before submitting. There is no need to upload any supporting documents at this stage, and no additional e-mail communication or paperwork is required.

Please note: Late applications cannot be accepted.

In the application form, you will be asked to:

  • provide your personal and academic information,
  • provide information about your home institution,
  • briefly explain your motivation for applying for the scholarship,
  • submit a proposed study plan.

Your study plan must include at least five compulsory or compulsory elective courses offered by the department where you intend to complete your mobility and from the semester in which the mobility takes place. Applicants may also choose elective courses, however, elective courses cannot replace the requirement to select at least five compulsory or compulsory elective courses.

Changes to the study plan are possible only in justified cases, such as course cancellation or timetable conflicts.

After the application deadline, all submitted applications are reviewed by the International Office of the Faculty of Arts.

At this stage, the Faculty check whether the application has been completed correctly, whether the proposed study plan meets the requirements, and whether the applicant fulfils the basic eligibility criteria. The Faculty selects the most suitable candidates. Shortlisted applicants are usually contacted within five working days after the deadline and asked to submit supporting documents, including:

  • a CV,
  • a confirmation of current studies,
  • a Bachelor’s degree diploma (for applicants planning a Master’s-level study stay).

Applicants are normally given up to three days to send the requested documents at ff-nsp@upjs.sk. Once the documents have been reviewed, eligible applicants are invited to an online interview.

The interview is usually conducted via video call (usually via Google Meet) and focuses mainly on language proficiency and the applicant’s motivation for the study stay. The interview will take place within ten calendar days after the application closes.

Based on the application, supporting documents and interview, the Faculty selects the most suitable candidates. Successful applicants will receive an official Acceptance Letter, which will be sent electronically by the International Office of the Faculty of Arts, UPJŠ.

The original Acceptance Letter will be send to SAIA.

Please note that the Acceptance Letter confirms the Faculty’s willingness to host the applicant. The final decision on awarding the scholarship is made by SAIA.

The final selection of scholarship recipients and the final decision on awarding the scholarship are made by SAIA. A list of scholarship holders will be published at SAIA website in the second half of June for winter semester and in the second half of December for summer semester. All applicants will be informed about the results via e-mail.

After acceptance the Faculty provides:

  • accommodation assistance
  • administrative support
  • student registration in Academic Identification System (AiS2)
  • student ID card (ISIC)
  • university e-mail account
  • academic guidance during the mobility period
