TIP-UPJŠ awarded at COINTT 2023

October 24, 2023, Bratislava – The Technology and Innovation Park (TIP) and representatives from UPJŠ in Košice received two prestigious awards in the categories of Innovation and Technology Transfer Achievement at the fourth annual COINTT 2023 conference (Cooperation Innovation Technology Transfer) in Slovakia. COINTT 2023 is regularly organized by the Slovak Center of Scientific and Technical Information (SCSTI).

For the fourth time, on October 24th and 25th, the COINTT 2023 conference took place in Bratislava. The event was held under the patronage of the President of the Slovak Republic, Zuzana Čaputová, and the Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sport of the Slovak Republic. The organizational framework of the conference was provided by SCSTI, with co-organizers including the Slovak Alliance for Innovation Economy (SAPIE), the Entrepreneurs Association of Slovakia (EAS), and the National Technology Transfer Portal (NTTP). The event also featured a ceremonial award ceremony in three categories: Innovation, Innovator, and Technology Transfer Achievement.

In the INNOVATION category, the award was received by prof. MUDr. Viliam Donič, CSc., and Assoc. Prof. MUDr. Pavol Török, CSc., representing the team from the Faculty of Medicine at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. The winning innovation was the “Device for Artificial Lung Ventilation with Identification of Gas Distribution Heterogeneity and Control Method for Artificial Lung Ventilation.”

The achievement of “Successful Technology Transfer: ‘Non-invasive Testing of In Vitro Fertilization Success’ into practice through rights transfer” was realized by representatives of the Technology and Innovation Park of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, its Technology Transfer Center, the Science Park of Comenius University in Bratislava, and its Technology Transfer Center, along with the Center for Technology Transfer at Masaryk University in Brno. This achievement was the winner in the TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER ACHIEVEMENT category. The award and diploma were accepted by JUDr. Laura Bachňáková Rózenfeldová, PhD, a legal expert at the Technology Transfer Center TIP-UPJŠ, from the advisor to the President of the Slovak Republic, Michal Novota.

In this challenging process of commercialization, we realized that close collaboration with the business and legal departments is essential for success. Thanks to this collaboration, we have been recognized with the Technology Transfer Achievement award,” stated prof. RNDr. Pavol Miškovský, DrSc., the director of TIP-UPJŠ.
