Department of Commercial Law and Business Law – Education

Department of Commercial Law and Business Law offers compulsory law courses of Commercial Law I, focusing on the theory of Commercial Law and clarification of institutes of Commercial Law, and Commercial Law II aiming at the legal regulation of companies and cooperatives. The course Contract Law – practicum is a tailored-made law course to teach students to resolve practical matters in contractual relations. The scientific and research activities of the Department reside in the fulfilment of their assignments within research projects and converge at proposals de lege ferenda and proposals in recitals of law in the rulings of the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic. In the bachelor’s degree study programme, the Department provides two compulsory law courses, Commercial Law I and Commercial Law II, whereas the course Commercial Law II is postponed until the academic year 2023/2024 due to the law studies reform. In the master’s degree study programme, the Department provides compulsory law course of Contract Law – practicum and offers several compulsory elective courses, such as Law of International Trade, Company Law and Business Law. At the third, doctoral level, the Department conducts law courses in the study programme of Commercial Law and Financial Law which include the following: Theory of Commercial Law, Commercial Law and Financial Law, European Company Law, Comparative Commercial Law, Comparative Corporate Law, and Europeanization of Private Law (selected issues).
