1minút, 25sekúnd

The Institute regularly organizes international scientific conferences and in the course of time a strong tradition has evolved to organize annual international scientific conferences on the anniversary of the accession of the Slovak Republic to the European Union. Various other regular events are prepared by the Institute, especially remarkable appears to be the Student Symposium convened every year to tackle current issues of International and European Law. In the academic year 2022/2023, the Institute hosted its XVIth Symposium.

The activities of the Institute tailor-made for their students extend far beyond teaching; the Institute endeavours to address the students through a wide range of other inspiring activities, for example, organized visits at the Court of Justice of the European Union or preparation for various student competitions, such as:

  • Concours René Cassin (Strasbourg 2004)
  • The EUROPA Moot Court Competition, (Kavala, Greece 2014)
  • Central & Eastern European Moot Competition (Luxembourg 2019)
  • Czechoslovak Asylum Law Moot Court Competition (Prague 2019-2021)
  • All European International Humanitarian and Refugee Law Moot Court Competition (Ljubljana 2018-2022).

Ambitious undertakings of the Institute are also directed towards the professional community outside the academia. During the period from 2004 to 2012, in cooperation with the publishing house IURA EDITION, the Institute periodically published the journal “Selected decisions of the Court of Justice” which comprised regular valuable contributions of the members of the Institute. This journal was one of the first sources of its kind in the Slovak Republic that contained information about the European Union Law for the professional community. Besides that, the Institute delivers lectures for the general public on current issues, such as the abolition of amnesties, the impact of the decision of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic on judges’ background checks or the Russia-Ukraine war developments.
