Research and scholarly activities of the members of the Institute are pursued in a variety of avenues, several members of the Institute focus on the investigation of current issues of International Law, whereas scholarly endeavours of the second group aim at current issues of the European Union. In both areas of research, the Institute, considering the achievements in their research, ranks among the leading workplaces of their kind in the Slovak Republic. This is further demonstrated in their successful efforts to obtain funding for the projects in which the members of the Institute are involved, most successful projects are as follows:

Excellent achievements in scholarly research are corroborated by the involvement of the members of the Institute in non-academic professional activities which significantly contributed to their experience and expertise. Prof. JUDr. Ján Klučka, CSc. held the office of a judge of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic during 1993-2004 and in the period 2004-2009 the position of a judge of the Court of Justice of the European Union. Prof. JUDr. Ján Mazák, PhD. during 2000-2006 period presided over the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic and in 2006-2012 acted in the position of the Advocate General of the Court of Justice of the European Union. Prof. Mazák currently holds the office of the President of the Judicial Council of the Slovak Republic. From 2008-2012, assoc. prof. JUDr. Martina Jánošíková, Ph.D. worked as a legal advisor at the Cabinet of the Advocate General at the Court of Justice of the European Union and at the present time cooperates with the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic as an external consultant. JUDr. Radoslav Benko, PhD. LL.M. has also been engaged by the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic as an external consultant.
Our doctoral students have also received several awards for their extraordinary merits. The Rector’s Award for significant scientific contribution was conferred upon Mgr. Lucia Bakošová, PhD. in 2020 and upon JUDr. Ľuboslav Sisák, PhD. in 2022; both success- fully represented the Faculty of Law at the Czechoslovak Round of Student Research and Professional Activity for Lawyers; JUDr. Ľuboslav Sisák, PhD. won the third place in 2019 and Mgr. Lucia Bakošová, PhD. earned the second place in 2020. Apart from that, in the academic year 2021/2022 JUDr. Ľuboslav Sisák, PhD. also obtained the Slovak Student Personality of the Year Award in the category of Law.
