Department of Biology Education realizes preparation of future teachers in the theory and practice of teaching biology.
Master degree students undergo compulsory subject Didactics of Biology which builds on the previous pedagogical and psychological education. Students receive together 10 weeks of continuous practice of teaching subject in primary and secondary schools. Chosen subjects are Sample exercises of biology teaching and School experiments in biology.
The department is involved in teaching activities of continually education courses for in-service teachers organized by the UPJŠ Košice.
Research in this department is currently focused on innovation of science teaching, especially biology, at primary and secondary schools; on the implementation of the inquiry based science education (IBSE), and new methods of evaluating the results of teaching.
