The Slovak and international scientific community of experts in photon and neutron physics has the opportunity to participate in a valuable scientific event – the 9th annual School for XFEL, Synchrotron and Neutron Radiation Users “SFEL 2026.”
A major scientific conference is fast approaching. The event will take place from September 28 to October 2, 2026, at the KC Academia in Stará Lesná in the High Tatras. The event is organized by the Faculty of Science, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, NCPXFEL—the National Contact Point for European XFEL and other European research infrastructures with financial support from the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, European XFEL in Hamburg and ILL in Grenoble.

This scientific conference is unique primarily in that it traditionally brings together the world’s leading experts working in the fields of FEL, synchrotron techniques, and neutron diffraction to support the main objective of SFEL, which is primarily to train future users of “Big Science” centers.
The overwhelming majority of participants from Slovak universities and institutes of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV), thanks to financial support from the aforementioned institutions, have received a participation grant that covers their accommodation and material expenses for SFEL 2026.
The organizers are pleased with the high level of interest in SFEL 2026, with 115 participants from 13 countries registered so far.
