How do I apply for studies

The Faculty of Science of the P. J. Šafárik University in Košice provides higher education at all three levels (Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral) in accredited study programmes.

  • The three-year Bachelor’s degree (single and interdisciplinary) is open to graduates of secondary schools. Successful graduates of the Bachelor’s degree are awarded the degree of “Bachelor” (Bc.) which is equivalent to Bachelor of Science (BSc.)

  • The two-year Master’s degree (both single and interdisciplinary) is open to graduates of Bachelor’s degree programmes. Successful graduates of the Master’s programme are awarded the degree of “Magister” (Mgr.) which is equivalent to Master of Science (MSc.).

  • The four-year Doctoral study is open for graduates of the Master level who will become experts in the selected scientific discipline and will be awarded the “Philosophiae doctor” (PhD.) degree.

Benefits of electronic application

An applicant may submit one application form for two study programmes, specifying the order in which they are to be applied for in the application form. The programme that is listed first in the order is considered to be his/her first (preferred) choice. If the applicant is not admitted to the preferred programme, he/she may be admitted to the second ranked programme if he/she fulfils the admission requirements for that programme. If the applicant is admitted to the preferred programme, the second programme of study shall be deemed to be of no relevance. The fee is not increased by the listing of the second programme of study.

In the application form, it is necessary to list the end-of-year grades in all subjects for the first three years of study (8-year grammar school from the fourth to the seventh year, 5-year grammar school from the second to the fourth year of study) and the grades from the midterm report from the last year of study.

An applicant, a graduate of a bachelor’s degree at the Faculty of Science of P. J. Šafarik University, who meets the conditions for admission, can continue to study a subsequent master’s study program in the given field, if he applies for enrollment in the chosen subsequent master’s study program until 31 May 2024, by submitting an electronic application.

The applicant, a graduate of a bachelor’s degree program outside the Faculty of Science of P. J. Šafarik University, must attach a certified copy of the bachelor’s diploma and the diploma annex to the application. If the applicant has not yet been issued the above-mentioned documents by the application deadline, he/she must submit a confirmation of the completion of the state exam and a transcript of the bachelor’s degree results.

CV and doctor’s certificate are not required.

The fee must be paid exclusively by payment gateway or bank transfer. A copy of the proof of payment does not need to be attached to the application form.

Your online application will be switched for processing once payment for admission has been received. It is therefore necessary to carefully fill in the individual symbols displayed on the payment order, which you can print from the system.

Warning:
When paying fees, you must wait at least 3 working days for the payment to be paired, i.e. the process of transferring the payment from the bank to the academic information system. Don’t pay fees twice.
