The scientific and research activity of the Department of Economics and Management of Public Administration is oriented on the economic aspects of public administration with a focus on the evaluation of public services of local government in terms of their efficiency, economy and optimization of their provision, financing and management. The areas of research addressed by the Department include:

• Economics of public administration and public sector
• Efficiency and measuring of performance in public administration
• Public finance with particular orientation to the local government finance
• Accounting in public administration
• Management in public administration
• Marketing of cities/towns, villages and regions
• Economic tools of environmental policy
• Quality of life of citizens and social economics
• Sustainable development and smart cities
• Regional development, regional policy and cohesion policy of the EU

The results of the staff’s own research and research within the framework of the projects are reflected in the department’s publishing activities, which include, with regard to teaching activities, the creation of study texts and university textbooks.
