Understanding the complexities of today’s turbulent global landscape is a demanding task for all of us. It is therefore immensely valuable when guest lecturers from our partner universities share their expertise and professional insights with our students, enriching their understanding of current events.
We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Dr Máté Gergely Balogh, a guest lecturer from the Institute of English and American Studies at the University of Debrecen and a visiting researcher at the John Lukacs Institute of the University of Public Service, at the Department of British and American Studies, Faculty of Arts, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. Dr Balogh delivered a lecture entitled “Immigration Trends to America – Policies and Their Consequences,” addressing one of the most contentious and vigorously debated issues in contemporary U.S. public discourse. Immigration has remained a central topic in American media and political debate, particularly since the inauguration of Donald Trump.
The event, held on 16 March 2026, was co‑organized in collaboration with the Mathias Corvinus Collegium.
