The Faculty of Arts welcomed Associate Professor Ihor Shnitser from Uzhhorod National University

From 12 to 16 May 2025, the Faculty of Arts at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice hosted Associate Professor Ihor Shnitser for a several meetings and academic exchanges. The focus of his visit was to share best practices in scientific research and to advance the internationalisation and digital transformation of higher education. The discussions aimed to strengthen existing partnerships and explore opportunities for future joint projects.

The visit began on 12 May with a meeting between Prof. Shnitser and Prof. Martin Pekár, Head of the Department of History. Discussions focused on developing joint courses and a potential collaborative doctoral programme in historical sciences. The discussion also addressed specific steps to deepen bilateral research cooperation, particularly in the field of 20th-century political and social history. Associate Professor Shnitser also met with Prof. Renáta Panocová, Dean of the Faculty of Arts.

Over the following days, he held individual and group meetings with members of the Department of History, as well as with Associate Professor Jana Šutajová, Head of the Department of Political Science. The sessions explored opportunities for cooperation in doctoral-level education and research, including preparing and implementing joint project proposals and pursuing shared research objectives.

Associate Professor Shnitser also held a series of consultations with doctoral students from the Department of History, focusing on 20th-century research. On 15 May, he gave a public lecture to students, followed by a discussion about the current situation of Ukrainian universities and studying history in the present context.

The visit concluded with the development of a proposal for an internal audit to support Uzhhorod National University’s internationalisation. The outcomes and insights gained will form the basis for ongoing collaboration and expansion of joint academic activities.

The visit took place under the Audit of the level of internationalization and implementation of the projects of internationalization of higher education institutions and research institutions(project code: K10-I4-48, Objective 23: Supporting the internationalisation of education and research at the Faculty of Arts, Activity 23.1: Inviting international experts with the aim to initialise cooperation in research and education (COIL, team teaching, Horizon projects, etc.).
