REGIOSTARS AWARDS 2026

The Slovak project MATSUKO AI Holopresence has been shortlisted amongst the top 25 European projects in the final of the prestigious REGIOSTARS 2026 competition.

The Faculty of Science also contributed to the development of the product as part of its collaboration on the project Research and Development of Machine Learning and Computer Vision Technologies for Photorealistic 3D Reconstruction of People in Virtual Environments.

Voting for the Public Award is currently underway, and you can help too. Public voting runs from 3 September to 14 October 2026.

Microbiologists from the Department of Microbiology have discovered unique bacteria

Scientists from the Department of Microbiology, Institute of Biology and Ecology at the Faculty of Science, UPJŠ in Košice, have discovered two new species of bacteria. These microorganisms provide insight into the evolution of bacteria in isolated environments. Their discoveries have potential for biotechnological and environmental applications.
