The release of anti-pandemic measures after a long time allows to move from the virtual meetings to the meetings in person. On Friday, 11 June 2021, the Director of the Slovak-French University Institute, doc. PaedDr. Radovan Gura, PhD., used this opportunity to attend the meeting at the Faculty of Arts. In addition to other Slovak and French universities, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice is also a member of the Institute.
Radovan Gura visited the Faculty of Arts of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, as the Faculty offers French language studies. In the discussion with the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, prof. PhDr. Oľga Orosová, CSc., and the Vice-Dean for International Relations, doc. Mgr. Renáta Panocová, PhD., they agreed that the French language has its stable place not only in diplomacy, but also in economy. The labour market is looking for future professionals with perfect knowledge of the French language and professional skills that can be further developed through practice. This is exactly what the Faculty of Arts strives to achieve in the study programme English Language and French Language for European Institutions and Economy the graduates of which are very successful in these two spheres.
There was also a talk about specific plans for the future. The Slovak-French Institute is mainly a platform for cooperation among its members. Two members of the Institute from Košice – Pavol Jozef Šafárik University and Technical University of Košice – are planning to strengthen the platform by holding a series of lectures and seminars on European realities and European economy. The lectures will be given in French by university teachers from the Faculty of Arts of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice and the Faculty of Economics of Technical University of Košice.
