Meeting of the International Project IMPRESA at the Faculty of Arts, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice

Following project meetings in Hamburg, Warsaw and Lisbon, the fourth planned meeting of the international consortium of the IMPRESA research project took place in Košice, from 21 to 23 March 2023.

The IMPRESA project – Implementing methamphetamine prevention strategies into practice, implemented under the JUST-2019-AG-DRUGS grant scheme, aims at the selection and implementation of specific intervention strategies for the prevention of methamphetamine use in selected European cities. The principle investigator at the Faculty of Arts, UPJŠ is prof. PhDr. Oľga Orosová, CSc. The project is implemented at the Faculty of Arts, UPJŠ jointly by the Department of Educational Psychology and Psychology of Health, and the Department of Social Work.

The invitation to Košice was accepted by representatives of each of the participating institutions within the consortium, namely Center for Interdisciplinary Addiction Research at the University of Hamburg (Germany, coordinating institution of the consortium), Charles University (Czech Republic), Maria Grzegorzewska University (Poland), Laboratory of Research and Social Initiatives, Ltd (Poland), and Republican Center for Addictive Disorders (Lithuania). The three-day event included a variety of activities of a professional as well as networking character – participants learned about the current status of the project implementation through the presentation of case studies, intervention protocols as well as partial results of the intervention in five European cities. Discussions took place on the further planned outputs of the project related to the evaluation of the effectiveness of the intervention as well as its impact on the local context and policies in the countries concerned. With the approaching end date of the project life-cycle, individual steps were also planned in this respect within the consortium as well as towards the European Commission. Last but not least, discussions were held on the possibilities of future cooperation between the participating institutions.
