On Monday, 11 May 2026, the leadership of the Faculty of Arts at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice welcomed Peter Stano, Head of the European Commission Representation in Slovakia. The meeting followed a discussion with students of the Department of Political Science titled We in Košice Are Also the EU, organised on the occasion of Europe Day. During the visit, faculty representatives and Peter Stano discussed possibilities for future cooperation and joint activities.
Peter Stano became Head of the European Commission Representation in Slovakia in December 2025. In this role, he serves as the official representative of the European Commission in Slovakia under the political leadership of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Between 2019 and 2024, he worked as the EU’s Lead Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. Before joining the European institutions, he held senior positions at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.
Peter Stano worked for 16 years in journalism and public-service media, including Slovak Television, Slovak Radio, BBC World Service, and Deutsche Welle. He speaks five languages fluently and can also communicate in two more.
